Social Psychology Educational Video

Second City Media Kit

This project was done for my Social Psychology class. My group made a video that defined and discussed social psychology terms. My group explained these specific terms through a series of skits. Using a program called WeVideo, I edited the video and added music and sound. This project taught me the importance of group communication and delegation of assignments. In this group project, communication was poor and I was left with a large portion of the tasks. I would have done things differently by asking for help from the other group members. However, I am glad that I was tasked with creating the video, because it provided me with valuable experience that I can use after college.

This project was done for my Nonverbal Communication class. Throughout the semester, I created an online portfolio about different aspects of nonverbal communication. The portfolio contained numerous components, including personal observations, evidence, research studies, and reactions to articles. Since this was a semester-long project, it taught me the importance of staying consistent in my work ethic. The project was one that required weekly entries and brief presentations to the class about what we found. It was interesting to learn about nonverbal communication in such a creative way. The project taught me to be creative and determined in finishing something I started.

Nonverbal Communication Portfolio

WLC Improv Troupe

This project was done for my Introduction to Professional Communication class. My group was tasked with proposing to a company about a certain topic. We chose workplace romance and proposed both sides of the issue, because tolerating workplace romance has both positive and negative outcomes. This proposal was the largest paper I wrote during my college career. I learned how to create various components of a proposal, including an executive summary, a table of contents, and a progress report. My professional writing improved greatly during this project, and my work ethic was put to the test. In the end, my group presented the proposal successfully and received high marks. The content was interesting and applicable to the students. Below is the presentation "Separation of Work and Mates," used to propose our information about workplace romance.
In 2013, I founded Wisconsin Lutheran College's first improvisational troupe with my friend Andrew Brondos. We have performed five improv showcases for the campus, performed for potential students, hosted campus events, and volunteered for the Campus Ministry Office. Although the improv troupe was not for a class, the experiences gained while president of the troupe are some of the most important I learned during my college career. As president of the troupe, I organized events, designed promos, booked event spaces, communicated with other club presidents, and wrote comedy sketches. I also acted as a mentor for the younger troupe members. My experiences as president of the improv troupe gave me necessary skills to lead a team to success. Below are some of the sketches I wrote, some promos I designed, and a recording of one of our shows.

Professional Proposal

This project was done for my Practice of Public Relations class. I created a media kit for an imaginary event that took place at the Second City Theatre in Chicago called "The Second City That Never Sleeps: Allergy Season." The event was a 24-hour comedy marathon hosted by Second City alumna Tina Fey. The event was based on a real-life event that takes place at the theatre annually. In this media kit I included a cover letter, a pitch letter, two press releases, a bio, a backgrounder, a poster, and a video. Before doing this project, I had no knowledge regarding how to write for public relations. Everything I created for this project was my first time doing it. I learned much about the specific writing techniques and also learned what to include in a media kit. Creating this project proved to be a valuable experience for me. I learned much about professionalism in writing, and my creative design abilities were furthered as well. Below is a portion of the media kit.
